The Military Media Center of the Southern Armed Forces, in coordination with the Training and Rehabilitation Sector of the National Southern Media Authority, inaugurated on Saturday, a training course for moral guidance cadres entitled "Military and security media... its peculiarities, advantages, and importance", under the patronage of the President of the Southern Transitional, President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, Supreme Commander of Southern Armed Forces.
At the inaguration of the session, Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, head of the National Southern Media Authority, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the participants, conveying to them the greetings of the President of the Southern Transitional Council, Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi.
In his speech, Al-Kathiri stressed that this course aims to qualify the moral guidance cadres in the military units of the Southern Armed Forces, to play their important role at all times, in war and peace, by following military field events and developments, conveying facts and raising morale, confirming belonging, and confronting the media of the enemy and its psychological campaigns that may affect the morale of the citizens and the performance of the southern army.
During the course, two lectures were presented, the first of which was by Professor Ali Al-Awlaki, head of the Security Committee of the Southern Transitional Council, on what psychological warfare is, its objectives, types and propaganda, and another one was by Brigadier General Ali Mansour Al-Walidi, Director of the Moral Guidance Department in the Southern Armed Forces, which was on the role of military media in formulating the directives of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, for the process of building, and qualitative modernizing, the defense institutions of the Southern Army.
Brigadier General Abdullatif Ali Abdullah, Deputy Director of Moral Guidance, also presented a paper entitled "The War Correspondent", which included the role of media during the war and peace.
During the first day of the three-day course, the 21 trainees received an explanation about news editing, introducing the qualities of a war correspondent, and means of countering rumors and hostile media discourse.
The inauguration was attended by Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafei, Vice-Chairman of the National Southern Media Authority, Head of the Radio and Television Sector, and two members of the National Southern Media Authority, Dr. Abdullah Al-Haw, Head of the Training and Rehabilitation Sector, and Lt. Colonel Mohammed Al-Naqeeb, the official spokesman for the Southern Armed Forces.
