Units of our southern armed forces participating in Operation "East Arrows" continue to take control of terrorist al-Qaeda strongholds and pursue its criminal elements.
This comes as part of a large-scale campaign that began on Friday, which culminated in the control of one of al-Qaeda’s terrorist camps. The Security Belt Forces, supported by security and military units from the Abyan Police and the Fifth Brigade Support and Reinforcement, fully secured the Wadi Sari camp in the eastern district of Ahwar in Abyan Governorate, which had been under the control of al-Qaeda.
The ongoing joint military and security campaign will continue until all its objectives are fully achieved. This operation followed the treacherous ambush laid by terrorist elements against members of the Fifth Infantry Brigade in the Hasn Said area, on the main road linking Ahwar to Shuqra. The attack resulted in four martyrs and several others being captured.
The official spokesperson for our southern armed forces, Colonel Mohammed Al-Naqeeb, confirmed in a statement to (South Shield) that this horrific terrorist crime will not go unpunished, and that swift and decisive action has been launched today in a wide-ranging joint military and security campaign that will continue until all objectives are achieved.
Al-Naqeeb added, "Our battle against terrorism, rooting out its evil and completely eliminating its criminal elements, continues to win victories with even greater strength than before. We vow to the martyrs, the prisoners, their families, and all our people, that we will eradicate the forces of evil and terrorism in a decisive, relentless war and battle, with broader operations and campaigns, extending the success of Operation East Arrows."
