On Wednesday, the local leadership of the Transitional Council in Abyan Governorate celebrated the 56th anniversary of the Southern National Independence Day, November 30, with a carnival festival in the presence of a member of the Presidency, Brigadier General Ali Al-Jabwani, the Governor’s Undersecretary, Mr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Jarfush, and a member of the Southern National Dialogue Committee.

At the ceremony, which was witnessed at the stadium of the late Nasib Awad in the city of Zanzibar, the capital of the governorate, and in the presence of a number of members of the National Assembly and leaders of the local authority, the head of the executive body of the local leadership of the transitional council in the governorate, Mr. Hassan Manser Ghaithan Al-Kazmi, delivered a speech at the beginning of the carnival celebration in which he praised the presence of a group of leaders of the governorate and its leadership cadres and a number of legal figures and women’s cadres from the people of the governorate and their participation in commemorating this glorious national occasion.

Professor Hassan Ghaithan pointed out that this presence comes as a tribute and gratitude to those revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives for this land and expresses their true will as they are an integral part of the ambition and aspirations of the southern people.

Ghaithan touched on what the governorate’s districts witnessed in the presence of a comprehensive presence of elites and societal components, which expresses their convictions that are consolidated day after day that the southern project is the option that touches upon their concerns and pains, adding that what has been achieved on the ground belongs to everyone and is the foundation on which we must build our hopes.

The transitional chief executive of Abyan, Mr. Hassan Ghaithan, called on the people of the governorate to reject anyone who tries to make the governorate a fertile ground for marketing his absurd and malicious plans at the expense of the reputation of the governorate and the interests of its people, and to undermine the goals of their revolution.

The ceremony witnessed carnival performances and artistic paintings by school students that embodied the love of belonging to the southern national identity, and the drawing of aesthetic and creative paintings that expressed the cultural wealth that Abyan Governorate abounds with.
