The Ministry of Justice and the International Committee of the Red Cross Conclude International Humanitarian Law Symposium

Today, a training workshop on international humanitarian law organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, was concluded in the capital, Aden, for a number of presidents and judges of the courts of first instance in the liberated governorates.

 At the conclusion of the training workshop, His Excellency the Minister of Justice, Judge Badr Al-Arda, stressed the importance of holding such workshops that expand knowledge of the provisions of international law and the role played by the International Committee of the Red Cross in Yemen.


His Excellency the Minister thanked the Red Cross for holding such a workshop, and for all its efforts in our country.

For his part, Mr. Christophe Leboa Mvogo, Deputy Head of the Red Cross Mission in Aden, welcomed His Excellency the Minister of Justice, Judge Badr Al-Arda, Judge Nazem Bawazir, Head of the Judicial Inspection Authority, and Judge Sabah Alwan, member of the Supreme Judicial Council, thanking them for their presence and honoring the conclusion of this training workshop, and stressing the importance of this attendance gave the workshop and its organizers, as well as the participants, including judges and presidents of courts, great and positive importance.

Christophe stressed the International Committee's keenness to support such workshops, and the importance of joint cooperation between the International Committee of the Red Cross, the judiciary and the Ministry of Justice in order to implement international humanitarian law in a way that serves human rights in Yemen.

Twenty-five judges and presidents of a court of first instance participated in the three-day training workshop, during which they learned about international humanitarian law, the scope of its application and principles, and the challenges it faces in armed conflicts.
