The Central Bank of Yemen launched, on Monday, the activities of Global Money Week in the capital city of Aden, which will continue from March 18th to March 24th, 2024.
Al-Qasimi Microfinance Bank participated in the events of Global Money Week with a delegation headed by the CEO, Mr. Ghassan Abu Ghanem, accompanied by his deputy, Mr. Saif Shelby, the Electronic Services Manager, Malik Al-Awabli, the Bank's Marketing Officer, Ibrahim Ba'asi, and Ms. Hanin Tawfiq, the Administrative Relations Officer for Institutions and Companies, along with a number of employees. They were joined by several Yemeni banks and financial institutions under the theme "Protect Your Money - Secure Your Future."
During the inauguration of the event, Ahmed Al-Maqbali, the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, delivered a speech on the occasion of the launch of Global Money Week 2024. He stated, "The Central Bank of Yemen has developed and issued the necessary regulatory and legislative framework in accordance with international best practices, which has allowed the establishment of specialized banks in microfinance, capable of receiving modest deposits. This aims to enhance financial inclusion and reach a wide segment of society who are not served by the banking sector and are deprived of opportunities to access financial and banking services."
The participating banks in Global Money Week had their representative, Ms. Alwaznah Bousbaieh, deliver a speech in which she called on the competent authorities and institutions in the country to incorporate financial education as part of their plans in schools and educational institutions. This will help Yemeni children and youth, including females, to learn how to manage their financial savings properly and develop the right ways of saving at an early age.
Al-Qasimi Microfinance Bank's participation comes as part of its efforts in the financial inclusion aspect, as it aligns with the goals sought to be achieved by this global financial event.
The inauguration of Global Money Week in Yemen was attended by Ahmed Al-Maqbali, the Governor of the Central Bank, his deputy, Dr. Mohammed Banajah, the Minister of Finance, Salem bin Berek, the Minister of Fisheries Wealth, Salem Al-Saqatari, the Minister of Transport, Abdul Salam Hamid, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Waeed Badheeb, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Mohammed Al-Ashwal, and Dr. Al-Khadar Lusour, the Head of Aden University, in addition to the presence of several heads and directors of 30 local banks and banking sectors in the country.
