Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Political Commission (PC) assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), head of the negotiations affairs unit, received on Tuesday in his office in the capital, Aden, Mr. Constantin Grund, Director of the Yemen and Sudan Office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), to discuss joint cooperation between the STC and the Foundation.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Khubaji welcomed Mr. Grund and his accompanying team, expressing his appreciation for the great efforts made by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in the field of training, qualification, and capacity-building for youth and women in the political, economic, media, and human rights fields, as well as peace-building programs in the face of conflicts, social justice, and training and qualification programs for union cadres in the South.
In this context, Al-Khubaji called on the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung to intensify its programs to provide an opportunity for the largest possible number of young people to build their capacities to enable them to contribute to development and state-building in the post-war period.
Al-Khubaji referred to a number of axes around the political process and the most prominent developments in its files at the local and international levels, explaining what the cause of the people of the South represents at this stage, which is the basis for resolving this crisis and its main essence, and accepting its solution according to the aspirations of the people of the South and their right to achieve their freedom and self-determination and regain their fully sovereign state.
The meeting touched on a range of economic and public files and issues related to the situation of citizens in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of the South, as well as the suffocating crises in electricity, food, and the collapse of the currency.
For his part, Mr. Grund expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the efforts made by the STC to facilitate and support the Foundation in implementing its projects in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of the South, and its role in easing the difficulties it faces, affirming the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung's readiness to intensify its projects to include a wide segment of youth and women.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Khalid Bamdahf, Deputy Head of the Political Commission, and Dr. Abdullah Abdel Samad, Assistant Head of the Commission, and from the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung: Mr. Mahmoud Qayyah, Acting Non-Resident Representative and Senior Program Director at the Foundation, and Ms. Mayada Al-Baydani, Director of Women and Youth Programs at the Foundation.
