Abyan Executive Body Head Holds Extensive Meeting with Journalists and Media Professionals

Today, Tuesday, the head of the Executive Body of the local leadership of the Southern Transitional Council in Abyan Governorate, Hassan Munsar Ghaithan Al-Kazmi, held an expanded meeting with a number of journalists and media professionals in the governorate, to discuss rationalizing the media discourse, in a way that serves the goals of establishing security, stability and development in the governorate.

Ghaithan said during the meeting, "Everyone must bear their responsibility, especially the media professionals who convey the truth in word and image to build public opinion and make it aware of the great challenges and obstacles taking place in this governorate on the ground, as well as the efforts aimed by the leadership of the Transitional Council and all the forces in the field to establish security and stability."  He added, "We face a collective responsibility to confront these challenges, and this responsibility requires a permanent commitment to convey the facts as they are without procrastination or falsification of them, and not to exploit just causes to strike the southern liberation project," indicating that one of the priorities of the Transitional Council is to support just causes and make it one of its tasks and prioritiesband realizing the right therein.

Ghaithan stressed the importance of unifying the media discourse and elevating it, in a way that serves these goals and keeps it from becoming a destructive factor, harming the southern liberation project, and deepening the disputes and disparities between the people of Abyan Governorate... appreciating the great efforts made by journalists in Abyan who painted a bright picture for this governorate.. Pointing out that the forces of terrorism, extremism and the Houthi militia continue to destabilize the security and stability of the governorate and the Abyan pens were waiting for them, stressing the need to unify the media discourse in the military, security and civil aspects in a way that serves the project of liberating what remains of Abyan Governorate in particular and the south in general.

For his part, Brigadier General Mukhtar Al-Noubi, commander of the Abyan axis, stressed the importance of the media message, especially at such a current stage, and working at all levels to unify the objective discourse of local, regional and international public opinion and support just causes, which are among the goals of the southern state that we all seek.

A number of journalists and media professionals in the governorate spoke about the problems and challenges in media work and the necessity of unifying all media efforts and overcoming the existing negatives that do not serve the governorate and create obstacles to the goals and priorities that the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council seeks to achieve.

The meeting came out with a set of recommendations and proposals aimed at unifying the media discourse in the governorate in particular and the south in general.

The meeting was attended by the Vice Head of the Body, Ali Sheikh Al-Suri, and the Head of Abyan University Coordination, Dr.  Ysleim Alawi Taher.
