Deputy Secretary-General meets Director of the Office of the UN Envoy Martin Griffiths

The Deputy Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Mr. Fadl Mohammad Al-Jaadi, received today, Sunday, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in the capital, Aden, Mr. Marwan Al-Ali, Director of the Office of the UN Envoy to Yemen, Mr. Martin Griffiths.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the political situation, and procedures for resuming talks to implement the Riyadh Agreement, and preparations for the comprehensive political process, taking into account the real representation of the active political forces on the ground.

Al-Jaadi stressed that the leadership of the Transitional Council is very keen to implement the Riyadh Agreement, and showed its keenness to do so by heading the Council’s negotiating delegation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to resume discussions of implementing the remaining of the agreement, pointing to the importance of unifying efforts to confront the Houthi militias that carry the Iranian-Persian project which poses a real danger and threat to the security and stability of the country and the region.

Al-Jaadi stressed the need for the government to return to the capital, Aden, to assume its responsibilities and perform its tasks in providing services to citizens as specified in the agreement, stressing that the Southern Transitional Council is fully prepared and will spare no effort to support the government of parity in all respects to conduct its work from the capital, Aden, and alleviate the suffering of the citizens and to get them out of from the economic and service deterioration they are experiencing.

For his part, Marwan Al-Ali stressed the importance of implementing the remaining provisions of the Riyadh Agreement, and the importance of establishing a serious dialogue between all parties to arrange the political situation, stressing that communication is continuing between the Office of the UN Envoy and the parties associated with the political process to reach to a comprehensive solution to stop the war and establish peace.
