President Commander Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received on Monday, June 27, a high-level delegation from the World Bank at the Presidential Palace in Maasheq.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Leader welcomed the delegation, which included Dr. Mirza Hassan, Dean of the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank Group, Mr. Farid Belhaj, Vice President of the World Bank for Middle East Affairs, Ms. Jehan Abdel Ghaffar, Senior Advisor to the Executive Director of the World Bank, and Ms. Marina, Regional Director of the Bank at Egypt, Yemen, Djibouti, Ms. Tania Mayer, Country Director of the World Bank’s Office in Yemen, and Mr. Youssef Habash, Country Director of the International Finance Corporation’s Office in Yemen, stressing the importance of having a representation of the World Bank in the capital, Aden, as one of the most prominent international partners that it had and still has A prominent role in the development and humanitarian support of our country.
President Al-Zubaidi stressed that the visit of the World Bank delegation to the capital, Aden, for the second time since the outbreak of the war, is appreciated, expressing his thanks and appreciation for the great efforts made by the Bank's mission to stand by our people in these difficult times.
The President called on the Leader to intensify the World Bank's interventions to support livelihoods related to the suffering of citizens, most notably enhancing food security, supporting sustainable development projects and infrastructure projects in the energy, health and education sectors, and building capacity in government institutions.
For his part, Dr. Mirza Hassan expressed his happiness and his accompanying delegation to visit the capital, Aden, to see the most prominent priorities that require urgent intervention by the World Bank, stressing that the bank's management seeks to have a representation of the bank in the capital, Aden, as soon as possible.
The Dean of Executive Directors of the World Bank reiterated the Bank's management's commitment to continuing its support for our country and providing assistance to our people to overcome their plight, stressing that the World Bank was and remains a key partner for our country in various fields of development and humanitarian relief.
