The Internal Southern National Dialogue Team, headed by Mr. Abdulsalam Qassem Massad, Deputy head of the team, met on Wednesday, October 5, in the capital, Aden, with a delegation from the American Democratic Institute.
Mr. Abdulsalam Qassem Massad briefed the delegation on the team’s work plan and the goals and tasks in order to unify the southern ranks with all its political and social spectrum and to reach a national consensus that will be translated and signed on its contents in a southern national pact as a reference for all parties in the event of political disagreement.
The team emphasized the restoration of the historical spirit of the south through the language of peaceful dialogue, as it is the democratic approach and the civilizational characteristic of the era, which should be a method of life, whether in seminars or workshops, as well as universities, schools, mosques and society.
It also stressed the importance of empowering women and youth to reach decision-making positions and leadership positions and rehabilitating them as a basic pillar towards restoring and building the southern state, and involving them from now in decision-making and working to offer practical and comprehensive solutions of the challenges.
For his part, the director of the American Democratic Institute's programs in the capital, Aden, Husam Al-Jadani, expressed his happiness of meeting with the youth and opening the discussion door with them, providing a brief explanation of the institute's programs, goals and achievements since the beginning of its work in the capital, Aden in 1993.
Al-Jadani stressed that the youth have a dimension in inspiring hope in the upcoming political life, as what was heard was completely above expectations, expressing the readiness of the American Democratic Institute to cooperate for the success of the Southern National Dialogue and to contribute with everyone in the drafting of the Southern National Pact.
