Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, met today, Tuesday, with Dr. Al-Khadr Lasuar, Chancellor of the University of Aden.
In the meeting, attended by Dr. Abu Bakr Ba-Raheem, Director of the Consulting Center, Secretary General of the Board of Trustees at the University of Aden, and Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafe'y, deputy head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA), Mr. Al-Kathiri was briefed on the work plan of the University of Aden for the last quarter of the current year 2024, and the progress of the educational process in the colleges, faculties, and entrance exams.
The meeting discussed the importance of subjecting certain government faculties to a preparatory year and a competitive selection process among applicants to ensure complete transparency and guarantee that the top-performing students secure the study places.
The meeting discussed the careful evaluation of Aden University's academic programs with the aim of continuously improving the quality of higher education. Participants also explored the reasons behind students' reluctance to pursue certain university majors.
In the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Saleh Qarda, advisor to the Chairman of the Assembly, Mr. Al-Kathiri praised the university's significant efforts in developing academic curricula to keep pace with rapid scientific advancements, affirming that the STC's leadership, led by President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, has placed a strong emphasis on public, academic, and vocational education. This commitment is seen as crucial for advancing comprehensive development across the South.
