President Al-Zubaidi Discusses with Ambassador of France Worsening Humanitarian Situation
President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice...
On a day that will be etched into the memory of peaceful women’s struggles worldwide, the women of Abyan— from across the governorate — took to the streets in a massive march. They stood with dignity and a clear voice to say: “Enough is enough.”
Today, they did not carry political banners or speak the language of partisanship. They marched for Abyan — from the heart of Abyan — raising their free voices and the outcry of long-standing suffering.
This march was called by the “Abyan Women’s Uprising,” an independent grassroots women’s movement that belongs to no party or political agenda. It arose from a reality growing ever more severe, and from suffering that can no longer be endured.
Behind every voice raised today lies a story of pain:
A mother walking miles for water.
A nurse working without pay.
A student longing for a classroom seat.
Teachers without salaries or daily sustenance.
Families without medicine or hope.
The women marched to declare, in one unified voice:
We want water.
We want electricity.
We want schools.
We want hospitals.
We want salaries.
We want infrastructure.
We want a dignified life on our land.
We do not want promises or slogans — we want real action that restores what remains of our dignity and rights.
Through this statement, we hold the de facto authorities at all levels fully responsible for the collapse of services and the daily suffering endured by citizens — a burden disproportionately borne by women, in their homes, in the streets, and in every aspect of daily life.
This march reaffirms the following demands:
1. Immediate provision of all basic services.
2. Timely and full payment of salaries to all public employees, without delay or exception.
3. Urgent rehabilitation of schools and healthcare facilities, ensuring access to education and medical care for all.
4. Ending manipulation of prices and services, with strict enforcement of oversight and accountability.
5. Ensuring genuine and effective inclusion of women in local and service-related decision-making processes.
A call to all sectors of society:
We call on all segments of society — at home and abroad — including civil society organizations, activists, and all who care for this land, to stand with us in truth and dignity. Support peace, align with our just demands, and defend our basic rights that should never be subject to negotiation or delay.
In conclusion:
We express our deepest gratitude to every free and courageous woman who marched today, despite all the challenges. We also thank everyone who stood by them, encouraged them, and helped them break the silence and move into action.
This march is not the end — it is the beginning of a free, independent women’s voice that represents Abyan from the ground, not from behind screens or political offices.
We will continue our peaceful mobilization until our demands are met, and justice is restored.
Abyan’s women marched for Abyan, and in the name of all of Abyan.
