Chairman of National Assembly checks out on issues of citizens of Abd al-Kuri Island in Socotra

Major General Ahmad Saeed Bin Brik, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council, met on Monday at the headquarters of the National Assembly with a number of people from Abd al-Kuri Island in Socotra Archipelago Governorate.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Suhair Ali Ahmed, the member of the Presidency of the Transitional Council, and Mohammad Ali Al-Awsh, Member of the National Assembly, Deputy Head of the Culture Committee in the Assembly, in which Major General Bin Brik welcomed the citizens of Abd al-Kuri Island and listened from them to a brief explanation on the public situation on the island that is geographically separated from Socotra island, and its population is about 1,800 people, most of them work in fishing and cattle grazing, as well as the suffering of its population due to the lack of basic services at all levels and the absence of the state's role, and its isolation from the world for 6 months each year because of the winds season.
The citizens of the island called for the need to consider the status of their island and meet the needs of its population in providing public services to be able to live better than it is now.
For his part, the Chairman of the National Assembly expressed his happiness for this meeting, which is the first with the people of Abd al-Kuri island, expressing his appreciation for the citizens of the island for this visit and bearing the fatigue in order to come to Aden the capital to reveal their concerns and issues they are suffering from, praising the university graduates of the island residents despite the poor capabilities and the hard living conditions.
Major General Bin Brik confirmed that all the obstacles and difficulties facing the people and residents of the island will be raised to the Presidency of Transitional Council and the President of the Council, President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, to be reviewed and resolved fully and quickly according to available.
