Today, Sunday, the American actress and UNHCR envoy, Angelina Jolie, arrived in the capital, Aden, to learn about the organization's efforts in the south and Yemen.

"I landed in Aden, to meet the displaced families and refugees of the UNHCR and to show my support to the people here and to help," Jolie said.

"As we continue to watch atrocities unfold in Ukraine, and call for an immediate end to the conflict and humanitarian access, I am here to support people who also need peace," Jolie added in a post on her Instagram.
The famous American actress said, "The situation here is one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, where one civilian is killed or injured every hour in 2022, the economy is devastated by war, and more than 20 million people depend on humanitarian aid to survive."

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced that its special envoy, Angelina Jolie, will arrive in Aden on Sunday, on a visit aimed at highlighting the catastrophic effects of the seven-year conflict.

“Jolie will visit displaced families and refugees, to hear firsthand how the conflict has torn their lives,” UNHCR said in a press release today, calling on regional and international actors to commit to ending the conflict.

For her part, the Resident Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Maya Amiratunga, indicated that “the UNHCR realizes the urgent need to increase humanitarian aid,” pointing to the efforts made by the UNHCR with donor countries, enabling them to increase the volume of aid.
