The Emirates Red Crescent Authority announced the provision of Ramadan food needs to 7 million Yemenis from poor families in six governorates, including Shabwa, Hadramawt, Taiz, Hodeidah, Aden and Socotra Island.
This comes in implementation of the directives of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the follow-up of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler's representative in the Al Dhafra region, head of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority.
The directives of the Emirati leadership are part of the UAE’s continuous humanitarian and development efforts to improve life in Yemen and alleviate the suffering of millions of Yemenis as a result of the unjust Houthi-Iranian war.
The total value of UAE aid provided to Yemen from 2015 until Ramadan last year is estimated at 23 billion dirhams.
The selection of this year's beneficiaries, amounting to 7 million Yemenis, is consistent with the lists of poor and needy families included in the updates of humanitarian reports and surveys in Yemen.
