President Commander Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Monday, September 12, in his office in the capital, Aden, with the Assistant Undersecretary for the Population Sector at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ishraq Al-Sibai, and the Director General of the Health and Population Office in the capital, Aden, Dr. Ahmed Al-Bishi.

The President listened, first, from Dr. Ishraq al-Sibai, to a brief explanation of the activity of the population sector in the Ministry of Health and the programs implemented by the sector within its competence, particularly the field of reproductive health, and maternal and child care, and the plans that will be implemented during the coming period.

In this context, President Al-Zubaidi stressed the need to redouble efforts and intensify communication with the supportive international organizations and donors to the population sector to attract more support to hospitals, complexes and specialized centers, as well as providing the sector with competencies, expertise and young people with scientific qualifications who are able to advance the sector and activate its role in all directorates of the capital, Aden and the other governorates.

Then President Al-Zubaidi was briefed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Bishi about the work progress in the Health and Population Office in the capital, Aden, and the highlighting difficulties facing its work, especially the deterioration of the infrastructure and the lack of qualified staff, in addition to a number of proposals and ideas to advance the health sector in the capital.

President Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of activating all facilities and units affiliated with the office, foremost of which is the planning unit, and raising all the requirements and needs of the health sector in the capital, Aden, in terms of rehabilitating the infrastructure and medical equipment of the Ministry, to work on providing them urgently.

The meeting has touched on the situation of Aden General Hospital, which was rehabilitated by the Saudi Fund for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, and the latest preparations underway to launch the work of the first phase in it, where the President Commander stressed the importance of communication and coordination with the operating company to select the best qualified medical personnel and cadres in line with the status and importance of this medical edifice.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Ishraq Al-Sibai and Dr. Al-Bishi appreciated the keenness of President Al-Zubaidi to the health sector, and his continuous support for the leadership of the ministry and its offices in the governorates to provide the best health care for citizens.
