President Al-Zubaidi: Our positive engagement with the initiatives to extend the armistice does not cancel our right to protect the security and stability of our country

President Commander Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, Vice-President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received at his residence in the Saudi capital Riyadh this evening, HE Petra Menader, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Saudi Arabia, Oman and Yemen.
At the outset of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi welcomed the Swedish ambassador, praising the strong relations between our country and the Kingdom of Sweden over the past years, and the pivotal role Sweden has played in advancing peace efforts in the region.
The meeting has discussed the efforts made by the United Nations and the regional and international communities to extend the UN armistice, and the support of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Parity Government to enable them to carry out the tasks entrusted to them in establishing security and stability in the liberated governorates, and reviving the collapsed economy.
In this regard, President Al-Zubaidi reiterated the keenness of the Southern Transitional Council and the Presidential Leadership Council to deal positively with all international and regional initiatives aimed at extending the armistice to move forward towards reaching a comprehensive peace in the region, stressing that the Houthi militias will remain a stumbling block in front of these efforts, with their intransigence, persistence of violations and refusal to fulfill with its obligations.
In the context of his speech, President Al-Zubaidi noted that the Houthi militias are only a tool of the Iranian regime, and they will continue to be moved by Iran whenever it wants.
President Al-Zubaidi indicated that the Presidential Leadership Council will deal positively with the efforts of extending the armistice in appreciation of the humanitarian situation, while all options will remain open to the Council to defend the liberated areas and protect their security and stability.
For her part, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden affirmed the support of her country's government to the Presidential Leadership Council and its efforts aimed at normalizing life, consolidating security and stability, reviving the economy, and advancing efforts to establish peace in the region.
The Swedish Ambassador also reiterated her country's position in support of the efforts of the envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Hans Grundberg, to stop the war and reach a sustainable peace sponsored by the United Nations and the regional and international communities.
