President Commander Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Wednesday, October 5, at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Farouk, the non-resident Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Yemen.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi welcomed the Egyptian ambassador, expressing his congratulations and all the people of the south, to the Egyptian leadership and the brotherly Egyptian people on the occasion of the forty-ninth anniversary of the victory of the sixth of October 1973, stressing that this historic day will remain immortal not only in the conscience of the Egyptian people, but in the soul and conscience of the entire Arab nation.
The meeting reviewed the strong brotherly relations between our country and the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, the pivotal role of Egypt in supporting efforts to bring peace in our country, and the prospects for joint cooperation in security aspects and ways to enhance them.
The meeting also discussed the developments in the political and military situation in our country in light of the intransigence of the Houthi militia and its continuous rejection of the international efforts aimed at extending the truce, ending war and establishing peace.
In this regard, President Al-Zubaidi stressed that all regional and international initiatives to bring peace to our country were clashed with the intransigence of the Houthi militia, at a time when the Presidential Leadership Council made all concessions to make the efforts of the UN Secretary-General's envoy to Yemen and the international community a success.
In his conversation with the Egyptian ambassador, the President stressed the importance of the international community adopting a firm stance towards the Houthi militia’s rebellion, its rejection of all calls for peace, and its new military escalation, stressing that the extortion practiced by the militias to obtain political gains is unacceptable, and any escalation will be met with a decisive response.
The meeting touched on the importance of Egyptian support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Parity Government and its strengthening in the logistical aspects, rehabilitation and training in the security and civil aspects, enabling the Parity government to develop its performance to carry out the national tasks entrusted to it.
For his part, Ambassador Farouk affirmed his country's commitment to support efforts to extend the truce and bring peace to our country, and to support the Presidential Leadership Council and the parity government to carry out their responsibilities in establishing security and stability and reviving the economic situation.
