President Al-Zubaidi inspects the work progress at the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries

 Today, Sunday, Commander Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council paid an inspection visit to the office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries in the capital, Aden.
 During the visit, President Al-Zubaidi made a tour at  building corridors and the offices of the departments, communications, institutions and centers affiliated with the ministry, reviewing its work progress and its job discipline .
 Then the Commander chaired a meeting that included the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, Major General Salem Abdullah Al-Saqtri, Dr. Suhair Ali Ahmed, a member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, the ministry’s representatives, and the general directors of the departments, communications, institutions and centers affiliated with the ministry in the capital, Aden, and a number of neighboring governorates.
 At the beginning of the meeting, the President Commander made a speech, in which he praised the great efforts made by the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries to revive the various sectors affiliated with the Ministry, after the great destruction that these vital sectors were subjected to as a result of the 2015 war, and 27 years of systematic looting and destruction.
 The President Commander addressed the attendees, saying: "Today, you have huge tasks on your shoulders to restore the infrastructure of this ministry, and to enhance its presence as one of the most important revenue ministries that supply the state treasury with foreign currency, and its sectors that are directly related to the life of the citizen and his daily gain."
 The President stressed the need for the ministry to intensify its efforts to enhance food security from wheat, and to achieve the highest rate of self-sufficiency in the basic crops produced by the country, especially in light of the food crisis that the world is witnessing as a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
 The Commander noted the Ministry need to use all the expertise and competencies available in it, to inject new blood from qualified young people in the field of agricultural, fishery, and animal research, and to coordinate with supporting international bodies and organizations, particularly the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “FAO” to attract more support to farmers and fishermen.  Providing training programs that enhance their capabilities and raise their productive efficiency.
 After that, the President listened to the attendees about the set of difficulties and challenges that face the progress of their work, each within the scope of his competence, in addition to a set of opinions and ideas to overcome and solve them according to practical and scientific strategies that ensure their sustainability and raise the quality of their implementation.
 At the end of his visit, the President Commander made a tour at a number of facilities affiliated with the Ministry and laboratories specialized in measuring the level of quality, in addition to the Ministry’s ship berth, stressing the speedy recovery of stranded ships in it and returning them to work .
